Today I came across a situation where I need to know my IFSC code of my ICICI bank account and don't remember the location of my branch.
For your information : Indian Financial System Code (IFSC), is an alphanumeric code that is used to identify the particular branch of a bank.
However, I finally came to know that your ICICI bank IFSC code lies in your account number itself. How? Let me show it to you.
Let us consider a 12 digit ICICI bank account number.
1111 222 33333 (I hope it does not belong to anyone :p )
Actually, your account number is divided into 3 parts, first four digits is your IFSC code, next 3 digits is account type and the remaining is your account number.So here,
Your partial IFSC code : 1111.
Account Type : 222
Account Number : 33333
You need to add your partial IFSC code to "ICIC0000000" to get complete IFSC code. hence your complete code would be
I C I C 0 0 0 0 0 0 0
+ 1 1 1 1
-------------------------
I C I C 0 0 0 1 1 1 1
So a person with the account number 111122233333 will have an IFSC code ICIC0001111.
